"Repose in Amber" is the most recent addition to a venerable series of public art landmarks in downtown Chicago. The 50 foot abstract reclining feminine figure is composed of five separate islands of hot sculpted amber-colored glass. The viewer can explore the micro or macro by experiencing the total piece, the individual islands or the inclusion of air bubbles within a single form. It is the potent spaces between the elements that invite the viewer to wander into the sculpture. Installed November 2004.
